I've noticed conservatives are so defensive of Bush (probably because they don't know who else to turn to if they don't support Bush and the infamous republican party) that they tend to call anyone a traitor who exercises their 1st Amendment freedom of speech against the President's administration.

Here is one example---on a long weekend day at home I come across dozens of these types of comments:

Is this because you people believe Bush IS America?
This is the same president who called the Constitution a "God ____ piece of paper" and filed hundreds of executive orders to bypass over 800 federal laws, after all.

Wolf, with your logic you should hate the Supreme Court as much as the Democratic Party.

They are obviously weak people. They have no valid argument but to call those who disagree a terrorist. If you push them to hard on their beliefs they can not back them up with a logic argument. Such as ask them why they hate us for our freedoms? They can't really answer except to say because they do, and then start attacking you personally and call you a terrorist.

It makes them look foolish.

First off, Bush is not that much of a conservative. He has spent more money on social programs than any other president in history (including education), and all of our other spending is through the roof. If you knew the first thing about all this, Bush is just to the right of center in the political spectrum. The media likes you to think that he is a big conservative because they like to demonize anyone with an opposing viewpoint against theirs. Stop watching CNN and CBS and do some real research, and no, that doesn't mean you have to tune into FOX News either. And speaking of research, did you do any of your own on this question. It seems to me that you would have to organize a little bit before you throw that assumption around. I wouldn't call Yahoo Answers the most cutting edge source for that kind of accusation. But than again, you lump all conservatives with Bush. And yes, Fonda was and is a traitor. But Bush wasn't in office when she went on vacation to Vietnam 30+ years ago. That was Johnson's war (a very liberal democrat). So don't throw Bush into the mix.

Do you even know the first thing about why people are disguted with Jane Fonda. She sided with the N. Vietnam army and criticized our own troops while they were POWs in the hands of the enemies. I don't know where you draw the line between loyal citizen and traitor, but I consider that betryal in all aspects. The funny thing about it is that our President had nothing to do with it and could care less about Hanoi Jane. So maybe you could explain to me what Bush has to do with this question. And as far as suppressing your 1st Amendment right, check out the proposed Fairness Doctrine that the Democrats have been talking about. Its goal is to wipe out all conservative talk radio. You can say whatever the hell you want. I could care less. But you better be prepared to get a response from someone. Last thing - Who does your party turn to if they have no one else to support? Hillary and John Edwards??? HAHAHAHAHAHA.

If you side with the enemy, which is what Jane Fonda did, then you are a traitor...period. The last dem candidate for the white house admittedly lied about war crimes committed by our soldiers. The kind of lies he told were the same lies that some of the soldiers were being tortured to tell, and still would not. Why did they not lie for the enemy, even under torture, because that would make them traitors. While John Kerry, told those lies simply for the attention. How do you think it made our POW's feel to hear kerry tell those lies under his own free will, while they were going through hell to keep that type of propoganda out of the enemies hands. When Harry Reid says we've lost the war, or John Murtha says our soldiers are cold-blooded murderers, or Nancy Pelosi, Ted Kennedy, Jimmy Carter (of all people), and the like say we should surrender or that we can't win...that aids the enemy and is therefore treasonous....

People are labeled as traitors when they support the enemies of our country. That is different from someone not agreeing with something you say. Thank goodness for the freedom of speech, it exposes the liars and charlatans. Makes me wonder why the Democrats want to shut down talk radio with their "fairness" doctrine.
When Islamofascists want to see the destruction of the USA, and when nuclear weapons could be available to them, then we should make an effort to defend the USA, not hide our heads in the sand.

i have come to the accurate some time in the past American conservatism is type of a religious cult and how they react to defectors is in basic terms yet another signal.Like in a a religious cult reality can change and dogma's abandoned for brand new ones yet in basic terms with the help of the chief(s)(see what number cases Bush lied and adjusted his tale on about each problem) The dogma's and convictions of the Holy conflict and the surely the moral authority of the chief are above criticism.Who does that would want to were no longer a real believer or be less than the impression of the devil they could say contained in the cult, liberal media contained in the conservative attitude.all of us recognize they both in basic terms exist contained in the minds of the uninformed and afraid

Most conservatives don't - just like most liberals won't call you a fascist or a racist for disagreeing with them. Well, /most/ won't. Many will.

The reasons political extremists on both sides resort to personal attacks vary. Often it's just a lack of rhetorical skills, sometimes it's excessive emotionalism. In any case, it's rarely ever constructive.

And, of course, there are suggestions that "don't agree" with one orthodox political philosophy or another, and really do deserve an appellation like 'traitor' or 'fascist.' A liberal would be justified in calling a conservative who called for a Night of Long Knives-style murder of the DNC and subsequent extermination of muslim-Americans a 'Fascist,' for instance. Similarly, a conservative would be justified in characterizing a liberal who called for the violent overthrow of the government of the United States of America as a 'Traitor.'

Not all conservatives think Bush Is America,, and No real conservative thinks this,I wouldn't call him liberal because even liberals want whats best for America, I would call Bush the Traitor,He has stomped all over the Constitution, our founding document, almost declared him self Dictator, His daddy made money , working with Adolph Hitler durning the second world war,,
So I don't by the question because real conservatives wouldn't do what he's done. to this country

I am a conservative and can have a reasonable argument with you. FYI, Bush is not a conservative, he has spent more money on social programs than any other Republican so that argument is not a good one...(look up what he gave Africa for Aids, for instance).

The president does at least stand by what he says he will do and that is why I admire him. I agree completely with his handling of the War on Terror and have a stake in it as I am in the military.

Speak out all you want. I will probably not agree with you, but that is not the end of the world, is it?

Uh, no we don't. Traitorous actions are ones that support our enemies while US soldiers are still fighting. Such as Jane Fonda's propaganda tour in support of the imperialist communist North Vietnamese.

That's a significant difference from just being a blithering, Bush-hating idiot.

Your "example" doesn't support your claim. I'm shocked, shocked!

Denouncing a decenter for lack of patriotism or calling them a traitor is exactly what the Nazis did during WW2.

It is a appeal to play on peoples emotions rather than intellect, logic or reason.

Stupid people fall for it every time.
