I have an assignment in which I have to decide which three events helped shaped Canada's independence.

For example, the battle of Vimy Ridge, the Halibut War, Commonwealth, Canada Act and them being recognized as a seperate country in the League of Nations.

Those are just a few things I found, but anything else would be awesome.

You could mention how Sam Hughes (head honhcho of the Canadian expeditionary Force heading into WW1) refused to let Canadian divisions be split up and divided among British Batallions. He demanded that Canadians fight together.

Of course on the downside, he was a rude bigot who gave favors to political buddies and signed contracts to arm our troops wih the crappy ross rifles, shovels with holes in the middle of them, and boots that were basically made of cardboard.
