Efficient agriculture = cheaper food, but OTOH a less diverse and less nutritious, unhealthy diet.

Efficient manufacturing = cheaper industrial goods, but OTOH exploitation of Third World resources.

Factories = steady work, but OTOH working poor, wage slavery, alienation, disenfranchisement, slums.
