Either will work well as long as it's filtered and heated and you maintain it properly.

The bigger the tank the better. Be sure to provide a heated tank between 68-82 degrees. I keep my tanks around 78. Betta's show their personalities when they have more space to explore. Don't forget a good filter that doesn't make too strong of a current.

My betta is in a 5 gallon tank with filter, heater, light, gargoyle, plants and 2 albino corys. They all seem to be very happy. I can't handle the idea of bettas being in the tiny bowls - just doesn't seem right.

A Betta is 'happiest' in a real tank, with a filter and heater, and plenty of plants too. 5 gallons allows for this kind of setup, while smaller tanks tend not to so well.

I think you just answer your own ? your Betta is happy. But if you have the money and want to spend it on a bigger tank, I know if i was a Betta I would like the more room,

I would definitely go for the 5 gallon, as the poster above stated, that is the minimum required for this fish. They will live in smaller tanks, but at a price, usually their health and life expectancy. Good luck!

He'll live in either OK, but bigger is always better :) Which would you rather live in, a closet or a mansion? Enjoy your bettas and thank you for not forcing them to live in tiny little cups.

When I see these questions, I can't help but reply back with "Would you be happier with a small apartment, or a large house with a yard?" ;) I think he'll do fine in either, but if you have the 5 gallon, you can do more aqua-scaping. :)
