It would be EXTREMELY helpful if people who post wanting snakes identified would at LEAST supply a LOCATION, and better yet, a photograph! There are a lot of snakes that can meet that description, besides the Eastern Diamondback Rattlesnake, including several types of Watersnake, Eastern Hognoses, etc. Also, what one person will refer to as "diamonds" might look like a square, oval or rectangle to someone else, when it comes to snakes. I've seen people describe practically every pattened snake they see as having "diamonds" on its back, so that is not a reliable description.

need more info. where ya from decsribe the snake a little better. there are lots of dark colord snakes with diamond patterns. diamond back rattlers are usually light colored not black. usually Tan with darker diamonds and a black and white striped tail just before the rattle

If it's dark with diamond, that sounds like a Eastern Diamondback. When you say.... "found" please don't tell me you tried to touch it or go near it? Look at the end of it's tail, does it have a rattle? If not it could be a copperhead.
