Why do you think many females pretend to be stupider than they actually are?

Why thank you Shy Girl- my question should read: Why do you think many females pretend to be more stupid than they actually are? Good point that they may not be pretending, but both people that made this comment were males. As a female, these type of girls allow me to see their intelligence but hide it from guys they like.

Probably because they learned early on that being different only gets you made fun of by your peers. And then they learned that boys are primarily interested in their physical assets, at least for those horrible hormonal years. ("You're so beautiful, I love you.")

Being more intelligent than a boy is like beating him at basketball. He feels emmasculated, because there is still a lingering social feeling that boys should excel at somethings and girls should excel at others. So, in order to make him feel like he's special, you don't show off your brains. (This is primarily a middle and high school phenomenon, though some women never grow out of it.)

Eventually the better men grow out of feeling resentment whenever a woman outpreforms them. They realize that everyone has talents and they aren't divided based on the Y-chromasome. If only they would also discover an unknown talent for seperating lights from colors too...

Because some men like to feel that they are the leader and in charge and as a woman we might pretend that we don't know so we let him come up with the answer. I used to do this all the time. He feels like a man and likes me more. Now that I'm in college however, the guys I deal with seem to like intelligence. Funny, huh?

Also, when people think you're stupid then they underestimate you and do/say things to let you know their true intentions, because they think you're too stupid to figure it out. I still do this but I guess I just told on myself. oops.

They can get stuff done for them by acting stupid.

All they have to do is act like they don't understand something, and a guy will jump in and help them out in order to try to impress the girl.

I've seen hundreds of examples of this over the years.

Because so many men feel threatened by intelligent women. There are few men who are up to the challange of a smart woman. Because those men are the majority, women act stupider so their boyfriends don't feel threatened. Dumb, isn't it?

Primarily cause it gets them out of trouble!!! and it keeps them from doing things they don't want to do. I think attractive women do it even more often because they can. The world is so vain that they look at someones(especially a woman's) physical assets first. and if we can get by on that, Why work any harder than we have to to get what we want?

Because we get out of doing stuff.. i.e
"hey can you help me put air in a tire??" i mean, i can do it, but, i might be too lazy to do it.. or "can you open this for me?" stuff like that.. it makes the men feel like a man, and then they get to please you, which is not a bad thing.. as long as it's not done all the time, 'cuz then a woman just looks weak..

So men will like them. I am 55 yr old. Seen it over and over and over. Women rarely share their intelligence with a man because men seem to be threatened.
