I believe in the positive thought and thinking and by visualizing things you want to happen, then it will eventually. Never under-estimate positive energy. So think happy thoughts and it will solve itself within time. Everything is a process and sometimes it goes faster than other times. But give yourself sometime and it will happen.

It can be hard depending on what a person did. I can forgive, by enjoying my life and just putting it behind me. True, if we continue to think about it then we manifest more hate and/or resentment and this just makes it even harder to forgive.
I was going to say; "You not have to control your thoughts, the government and media do that for us". But, this statement is not really true, only a pun. Actually how I do this is occupy my time in positive and constructive ways. I try to have some various hobbies and projects going all the time. Some are short term, some are more time intensive.
A good example is my neighbor. He enjoys mechanics and works on his cars and little things around the house, this his short term projects that take a few hours. If, he not have anything to do, he works on his long term project of restoring a 1952 Ford Pickup, which may take him years to finish.

To forgive is not to forget. You can, as I have done, forgive someone but still never forget what they did to you and not return to the naivety that you once had prior to the trespassing. I do not "punish" people, I instead blot them out of my life, rather it be a sibling or other family member, or a "friend". I am done with certain ones who I felt have dealt me a raw deal and as they attempt to reinstate themselves to my favor, I politely, non aggressively blow them off. I learned that to mourn these people as one might in a death, I can move to new places in life and not dwell on these negative emotions and thoughts.

just look at things from other peoples perspective, and if they did something on purpose the you can forgive them, but you don't have to like them
