Okay, what can I do to get rid of the fleas in my apartment? I have sprayed my apartment, vacuumed, sparyed, and so on. I have also given my dog a bath, sprayed her, given her a bath, ... What do I do now? They won't go away! Are there any good house sprays or what about to put on my dog?

A couple things you can try are: Frontline Plus (or a similar product), along with Adam's Plus Inverted Carpet Spray. You can't control the yard in which the dog potty's since you're in an apartment building, but you can do what you can about the fleas that are tracked in. By using the Adam's, you'll kill what eggs and larve are in the carpet. The "Plus" means it has an Insect Growth Regulator, which will either kill the flea (or egg, larve, etc), or it will mutate it to the point of being inable to reproduce. Only about 1-5% of the flea population are adults, and that's what you see on your pet. 50% are eggs that have fallen off your dog and have gotten on your carpet, rugs, bed, couch, etc. Once they hatch, they'll get back on your dog, and the cycle restarts. You can use a flea/tick shampoo before applying the Frontline to kill what you can, and the Frontline should kill what's on your dog, too. By treating your dog AND the environment that he lives in, you'll have a hand up on the flea population. (Flea and tick collars don't do that great for fleas, but they are ideal for ticks.)

I know that once you get fleas they are very hard to get rid of them.
1st of all after you vacuum do you keep the bag around or do you throw it away after each use. The eggs can hatch in the bags and don't want that.

2nd of all i have always taken my dogs/cats to the vet and have them bathe them and have the flea guy come that day. Then you vacuum after it has been sprayed and throw away the bag. You have to have the flea guy bomb and spray and this may be needed outside if you are on the 1st floor. But I don't think that there are many products over the counter that do as good a job as professionals stuff does. Or at least I haven't come acrossed it. Most exterminators will come back and spray if it doesn't take the first time.

You also have to clean pups bed, stuffed animals etc.. in hot water and detergent.

The vet can also give you other pointers as well. But I have found that vacuuming every day and throwing away the bag is very important.

3rd there are many flea products to use that the vet sells like Frontline, Advantage, Advantix and they all are good. Some help with ticks as well. That Ortho 7 Dust also is good to put around the perimeter of the building, not sure if you can use this in the house and if it could harm your pup.

Give a shot and Best of Luck To you what have you got to lose but hopefully the fleas.

If you're buying the spray at a grocery store or mass merchandise store, it's probably not going to work. I've never had any luck with Hartz or any of those "regular" brands. The stuff the vets sell is the only stuff that works (Advantage, Revolution, etc). I think Petco & PetSmart also sell them now, but you have to ask an associate as they're in a locked case.

I just found this website http://www.preciouspets.org/fleafree.htm
which has an all natural flea control food additive and also a yard spray (and probably house sprays too). The shipping is kinda high, since liquid is heavy... but I think I'm gonna try it. It says it's guaranteed, so if it doesn't work I should be able to get my money back. It would really be worth it if it works. I hate putting all the chemicals on my animals!

Every treatment you do has to be done pretty much the same day or you will get flea eggs that will hatch and you will have the same problems over again. SO, you treat the dog, we use Front Line Plus once a month (goes on the back of his neck area). You treat the apartment. We use Sergeant's Sentry Pro Home and Carpet Spray, which kills flea eggs. Do you have a yard or area the dog goes to potty? It too must be sprayed. Follow all directions carefully. Wash all bedding, clothes, drapes, laundry. Vacuum and wrap and dispose of the bag immediately. Then, you must do it all again one month later to catch the eggs you missed. You may even have to flea bomb the apartment. Once you get rid of them, you have to stay on top of it always.

Get them off the dog and yourself first priority. Fleas can be such a pain in the summer, I would highly suggest a ingested flea repelant combined with one of the oils you put on their back. And eat lots of garlic yourself, put some on your dog food as well, garlic is an awesome natural flea repelant. Then wash your sheets and clothes and possibly even bomb the apartment. Flea eggs hatch every seven days you you really need to be diligent in your anti-flea practices. (misc) I've also heard that fleas like white dogs the most. I know that's not helpful but an intresting thought.

sprays don't really work for us. try using "Raid flea killer" it's a powder you sprinkle on your carpet. it works really good, doesn't have a foul odor. it's in a purple can. and you can also take her to the vet to get a flea dip, that also helps too.
