You're one of the good guys on this site. I consider myself very patriotic actually regardless of doing much more than debating issues I feel are issues that affect the greater good of the direction of our country's future.

I believe in the Constitution even if it is outdated. Right to free speech is one I respect and use. I've found most of our friends from the military on this site seem to have a problem with speech.

Most Christians on this site have a problem with people that aren't Christian.

Even though I am a liberal, I believe in the right to bear arms, although I feel the country would be better if they restricted which guns could be owned.

So many people seem to feel blacks are only partially human, one guy today said a white woman dating a black man is beastiality.

I think it's great that you serve, but your fellow military personnel and most of the Republicans on this site seem to be against many of our freedoms.

The same way a man can send Americans to their death in a foreign nation while not listing a viable point or giving them adequate care for wounds and then saying he supports the troops.

Of course the answer is #1. Not all of us can fight to protect our country. My father fought in WW 2. My uncles in Korea. My husband in Vietnam. Wars skipped my boys generation. If the need had risen, they would have been proud to serve.

All I can do is tell you Thank You. Thank You for risking your life for the freedoms we all enjoy. Thank You for enduring hardships we can only imagine. Thank You for going through loneliness while we stayed with our families. Thank YOU from the heart of one patriotic mom. My flag does wave proudly in the front yard. My fathers flag and Army medals hang proudly on my wall. My uncle's purple heart glows in its case. My husbands brought home no medals. Only the mental torment of a trying time in Vietnam.

Your commentary comparing a occasion of in the present day with the nationalist occasion of the 1700's does not make sense. we are one usa no longer under the guideline of yet another. as a result how are you able to evaluate any US political occasion to a occasion that replaced into dependable to a various worldwide places rule???? Now we could evaluate to a sought after-day Nationalist occasion ... What occasion does this sound like????? sell government rule of coaching , wellbeing care, transportation, national aspects, production, distribution and regulation enforcement... turn the working type, unemployed, and tutorial elite against the conservatives. After election this actual occasion replaced into converted right into a sought after social phenomenon, occasion club replaced into exceptionally usual with educators, bureaucrats, and the clicking. Being a member of this occasion replaced into "politically appropriate". help strict gun administration . attempt to discover a thank you to confiscate and grab the properties, companies, economic corporation bills, and private assets of wealthy conservative electorate . consult from Christians as "suited wing followers". those have been the perspectives and agendas if the Nationalist occasion ran through Adolph Hitler.... Sounds purely like the Democratic occasion and a few of its defenders does not it..... The means of protection against remote places danger traditionally are transforming into to be the gadgets of tyranny at abode. - James Madison

Josh...our fellow countrymen represent a mix that is the result of the freedom they enjoy, but, rarely take to heart. we are allowed to be as selfish, opinionated, stupid, foolish, etc. as we care to be. if some choose to "spend" their freedom in ways we find distasteful, we must remember...that is their right.

Mark Twain put it like this..."a patriot supports his country all the time, and his government when they deserve it".

Let's try an actual dictionary definition (this one's Merriam-Webster)

pa·tri·ot
Pronunciation: \ˈpā-trē-ət, -ˌät, chiefly British ˈpa-trē-ət\
Function: noun
: one who loves his or her country and supports its authority and interests

I don't see any anti-computer use or twinkie exclusionary clauses in the definition.

Here's the definition from the Cambridge dictionary:

"a person who loves their country and, if necessary, will fight for it"

And, from the OED:

" • noun: a person who vigorously supports their country and is prepared to defend it. "
