The starter motor on a 97 Sunfire is located on the front of the engine towards the bottom. Be sure to disconnect the battery cable before attempting to remove it. 2 bolts hold it to the bell housing and should have 2 wires coming off the solenoid.

To find the starter just follow the positive cable down under the car.
To replace it you will need to unblot it from the block and have it checked.
There are 2 bolts holding it in placy and you will need to disconnectr the battery befor removing it. Jack up the car and put jack stands under it to support it.
Next remove the wires from the starter and remove the bolts.
