Freemason, a member of the Masonic Lodge system. You have to apply to qualify for membership.

A stone mason is a person who works with stone, usually having gone through an apprenticeship and becoming a journeyman is considered a ranking professional in a trade. They don't have to belong to anything.

To become a Freemason you must:

Be a man of at least 21 years of age
Be of good moral character

Have a personal belief in a Supreme Being (the definition of a Supreme Being is a personal matter for each individual)

Decide to become a Mason of "your own free will and
accord" without expectation of any material gain or benefits

Be loyal to your country

Be dedicated to providing for your own family

Have a sincere determination to conduct yourself in a manner that will earn the respect and trust of others

Possess a desire to help others through community service and universal benevolence

TO PURSUE YOUR INTEREST IN BECOMING A MEMBER follow these steps:

Talk with someone you know who is a Freemason
If you do not know anyone who is a Mason, contact a Lodge in your neighbourhood

Masons do not solicit for members. You'll need to express your personal interest in joining Freemasonry

You may be invited to meet with the Lodge Committee or selected Members to discuss your application and to answer your questions.

Subject to you being considered eligible and properly motivated you will be asked to complete an application for membership and return it to your local Lodge Secretary

Your application will be presented to a Lodge Meeting and a secret ballot conducted in which Members vote on your suitability. You will be notified of the result and invited to attend a Lodge Meeting for your initiation into Membership

Freemasonry is an oath bound fraternal order of men which derives from the medieval fraternity of Freemasonry. We adhere to many of the Ancient Charges, laws, customs and legends of operative Freemasonry. We are loyal to the civilian government under which we exist. We inculcate moral and social virtues by symbolic application of the operative stonemasons' working tools and by allegories, lectures and charges.
Freemasonry obligates its members to obey the principles of brotherly love, equality, mutual aid, secrecy and confidence. We have secret modes of recognition that permit members to recognize each other as brothers. We require a through examination into the mental, moral and physical qualifications of a petitioner and we admit men into the fraternity by secret ceremonies based in part on legends of the Craft.

Once a person has decided to apply for membership he fills out a petition signed by 2 members of the Lodge he desires to join. He gives the petition to one of the members along with the required initiation fee. The petition is read at the Lodge's next stated meeting. The Worshipful Master will appoint an investigating committee to interview the petitioner in person and the investigating committee will report back to Lodge at the following stated meeting. After this report of the investigating committee the petitioner is voted on by the members of the Lodge who are present at this stated meeting. Once the petitioner is accepted he is given the three degrees of Entered Apprentice, Fellow Craft and then the Sublime Degree of a Master Mason. There are certain requirements a candidate must meet before being allowed to proceed from one degree to the next.

One must obtain the Sublime Degree of a Master Mason before being allowed to wear any Masonic jewelry.

One must have a Belief in a Supreme Being.

The tenets of the Masonic Fraternity are " Brotherly Love, Relief and Truth. "

The Masonic Fraternity is NOT a Secret Society but rather a Society with Secrets like all other Fraternal Organizations such as the Eagles, Moose, Elks, Independent Order of Odd Fellows, etc.

Suggest if you are interested in pursuing interest in the Masonic Fraternity if over legal age you contact a man whom you know is a Mason. If no local Masonic Lodge is available then suggest you contact the Grand Lodge of Masons for the State in which you reside. The Grand Lodge Officers will be glad to assist you.

Please contact someone who knows what they are talking about regarding the Masonic Fraternity as there is plenty of erroneous information about this as well as other Fraternal Orders. Suggest you gather the information wanted from a reliable source.

If you are under legal age you might inquire about the DeMolay Order.

You have to be invited by another Mason. Then memorize a bunch of baloney, and then go to an initiation and learn a bunch of more secret baloney and sit there and do nothing and then pay dues and do nothing, it is a racist group that is against women and black people yes there are some black chapters but they are few and far between. Masons are a joke. Thankfully a group that is slowly dwindling.
