I am a nurse. as long as there is no stiffening of the ab muscles and no areas of deep bruising, there's not likely to be much damage. The first concern is internal bleeding. Those would be some signs in the first little while. After a while, a sign of severe blood loss would be fainting or blacking out when you stand up (orthostatic hypotension) due to your body not having enough blood in vascular to support normal blood pressure. Not to get personal but if you are passing gas regularly (and if you are human, everyone does) and if you are having regular bowel movements, you should be ok. In abdominal trauma, one of the first things that happens is your bowels stop their motility or slow it to a minute amount. The sign we look for after bowel surgery before people can begin taking things by mouth is the return of passing gas, bowel movements and bowel sounds. Have a friend listen to your abdomen in all 4 quadrants around and on your navel. There should be a bit of gurgling sounds all over, especially on the right side. If they can't hear them, fear not. If you are able to take food and liquid and are having normal BMs, you should be fine. If you do notice any blood in your stool, get it checked by a doc. The higher up the digestive tract the injury is, the more "hidden" blood becomes when it is in stool. The lower down the tract, the more obvious it is. If you notice blood in the toilet, see a doc, if your stools are tarry and black and smell worse than normal, see a doc. Sorry to be so graphic but as a nurse I have no shame lol. If you have stomach pain for more than a day after, see a doc. You should be fine though
All the best.
Vince.

depends on how hard, but that is a pretty large surface area to do a lot of damage. maybe some red marks or a little bruising would be about all.

You're probably fine. Blood loss is the main concern, so if your not passing any when you go to the bathroom, or feel faintish I wouldn't worry about it. The pain should go away.

your body is pretty tough, you may be bruised, but it is unlikely that there is any permanent damage.
