Obviously I want to pay $5145 or lower. Start negotiations there? Stand firm on Blue Book's price?

Good choice of ride there dude :)

Pertaining to your question, you can try haggling with the dealer, or try to get more freebies thrown in. Otherwise, it never hurts to take your shopping elsewhere. Prices may vary from dealer to dealer, and it never hurts to spend some time wandering through the shops to find out where you can get the best deal, especially on an important purchase like a bike.

The dealer is ripping you off, because the MSRP is only $6,000. $1300 on tax & license, fees, and other crap is too high.

Start with the blue book, or ask to see the dealer's invoice and refuse to pay "destination charge" crap. They gotta ship it anyway, why should YOU have to pay for it?

Great bike, BTW. You'll like it when you get it, and might even be able to find a used or leftover 2006 for WAY cheaper than new!

Blue Book is USED price.
MSRP is suggested retail
Dealer price is his retail(may be different from MSRP) + charges.

You will never get Blue Book price on a new one.

Let them know what you're willing to pay, then leave them your name and number.
If they see that you're not going to play their game, they may come down.

Shop around and find a better price, then let them know Where and How Much.
They might just come down within 100.00 to 200.00 price found.
