Why do European Americans claim they are a minority when where i live you can count the Black's one hand??

I live in Massachusetts (northeast) and everywhere you turn boom! so what is the deal with all this " we are becoming the minority, they are outnumbering us?" and dont give flip like you never heard it because I hear it all the time. where are they the minority? work? school? Bars? where? where? where?

There are only a few states where European Americans have become a minority (constituting less than 50% of the population). The state I live in, CA, is one of them. The state you live in, is not.

Though, if you count 'white males' you'd find they're a minority, as well - women, are the actual majority of the population.

Just because you live in a predominately white community does not mean that the rest of the nation has the same ratio.

On average, the Caucasian American consists of less than 50% of the total population of Americans therefore, we are the single largest minority in the US.

Furthermore the percentage of Caucasians in the US is shrinking due to the fact that we do not have as many children per family on average as some of the other races in this country.

European Americans claim---is what you wrote in your post. What Europeans of which European countries would ever express such a ridiculous assertion? Europeans were the settlers, colonists, and founders [occupationists] of the eastern United States.

The United Kingdom, which includes Great Britian, Ireland, Wales, and Scotland, were once occupied and ruled by the Romans (Italians). In fact, Rome ruled most of the world for a few years----and the Romans batted Africa, Australia, and South America back and forth between the Egyptians, the Greeks, and the English for a few hundred years.

Then, when some religious zealots who were not well accepted by the new religions popping up all over Eastern Europe (Catholics and Martin Luther's Followers---Protestants, protesting rule by the Pope in Rome) decided they would flea Europe and settle in the "New World."

Guess where most of them landed???? The Eastern coasts of ---- "the New World".

I would respecfully submit to you that there isn't one "European" with any knowledge or good sense that would claim to be "a minority." AND---if you are using the word "minority" to describe African Americans, Jamaican Americans, and all other "dark-skinned" nationalities, then---of course there aren't going to be large "per capita" numbers in an area from which slaves FLED!

The only true minority in this country are Native Americans. If Native Americans had had better immigration laws, more 700-mile fences, and more legislation to keep people off their homelands, maybe we wouldn't have had to worry about global warming today!

Native Americans are the only minority left. You will find them on reservations, where the "Leaders of The United States of America" enslaved them, bred out their culture, their languages, and their traditions for hundreds of years.

They are not in the US, but are in the whole world. It is a total ploy. I think they are referring to the "Aryan" white.

In the US it's approximately 72% White, 13% Hispanic, 12% Black, 2% Asian/Pacific Islander, <1% Native American (according my sociology and family classes I took a few years back!). Some Middle Easterners consider themselves white, as do ethnic Europeans like Romanians, Italians, etc.

But who cares, really? You would think ethnic diversity would be desired so the race that matters (that would be the human race) can procreate strongly from a deep gene pool. My son has no less than 10 ethnicity's he could claim, and he is a strong and handsome 4-year-old!.

Because when you look at the demographics for the country as a whole, the WASP is dissolving.

The good news is if we all follow the Good Book and be fruitful and multiply a lot, AND IF, we're still around the only true minorities in this country will remain women and gays (not that I personally think they should be,) but we'll all be mutt and looking for other differences to divide us.

A Person, please read between the parenthesis above. I don't subscribe to the notion that ANYONE should be labeled or treated as minorities; but that's just me.

Well, if you live in Massachusetts you probably aren't seeing many illegal immigrants. My hometown (in Kansas) was flooded with illegal immigrants. The town became 40% Hispanic within 5 years and the immigrant population is still rising. Also, the upper and upper-middle class families are leaving because the town is going downhill, and most of them are white so that also affects the percentage.

I think it probably just depends on where you leave. A lot of the southwestern and even midwestern states have been flooded with Hispanic immigrants and it's causing lots of problems in those areas.

Cool down. I haven't heard that one before, but I do know there are minorty-majority states (where national minorities are state majorities, this mostly applies to Hispanics).

mister_jl2003: I have no idea how you think women will be minorities. Will more male children be born than female children? All things being equal, there should be as many women as men.
