The thing to consider: The Jetsons is not a modern show. It was made prior to the Civil Rights movement:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Jetsons
It began airing in 1962, which was slightly ahead of any major Civil Rights legislation. The "Black Power Movement" did not begin until 1966, a few years after the Jetsons.
So, in response to your question, the lack of black people in The Jetsons is a reflection of the time period in which it was created. Although it is futuristic, the content of The Jetsons is still based in the time in which it was created. The roles of men and women in the Jetsons also does not reflect modern roles, but that is the way they saw it back then. You could say that it was racist, but inclusion of minorities in shows was not considered important like it is today.

Well, I don't remember any black people on The Flintsones either. So does that mean black people don't have a past? None on The Smurfs either. So, that means black people can't be little blue guys. If I remember correctly (it's been a while since I watched any cartoons), there were no black people on Yogi Bear or Tom and Jerry or Looney Tunes either. Hmmm. But as far as the Jetson's question - I think you're reading too much into it.

No, just a product of an un-PC time (Though Josie and the Pussycats came out a few years later, and there was a black girl there...).
I mean, there were no black people in The Flintstones. Does that mean black people never existed in the stone age?

Hey, you never know! I will say that I do remember seeing a black character on the Flintstones once, he was one of Fred's coworkers, but he didnt say anything. As far as Proud Family goes, what are you talking about? Proud Family has pretty much every race you can think of on there, thats the LEAST racist cartoon there is!

But the Flintstones never had any black men either...so I guess, according to Hanna-Barbara, Black people are just a manifestation of today (or, the 1960s or 70s, whenever these cartoons were made).

Why does it always have to be a race thing. That question is so undeserving of an answer. There are plenty of black people out there with bright futures.
