I have advertised a car for sale on both friday ads and loot, i have had a few emails back which is fine, but i have had a couple from this one bloke, whos english grammer is all there but just the wrong way round in sentences, he has just agreed to buy my car without even looking at it, wants my address which is fair, then says that a colleague of his who owes him 3k will send me a cheque, i'm meant to be cashing the cheque, sending the rest via western money...needless to say i haven't given him any details...who can i report this to is smells like a con to me!

i have just checked my emails and i have had about 3 or 4 emails from different people all offering the same thing, either part time work, clearing these cheques or offering to buy the car in exchange for a business transaction! beware.

Yep, big time scam. The check is bogus. You will get it and cash it and send the rest to the other guy (actually, it is probably just one guy being both the supposed buyer and the person you send the money to). Soon, the bank figures out the bank was bogus and they come to you to pay back the money. The bank will not care one bit that some other guy has the money. You are the one on the hook.

The scammers may or may not take the car. I have usually heard of them not taking the car. They just want to get you to pass the bad check for them. Contact the local police and let them know what is going on.

Just move on. Not worth reporting --- you've got to pick your battles. He/she is probably impossible to track to begin with, gven what you've stated.
