There can be difficulties in love, but it should not be painful. If it is, it's not really love.

I think in normal circumstances love is the most beautiful feeling you'll ever have, but in some sad cases when people "shouldn't" be in love and are kept apart whilst madly in love then yes it can be pain. Almost like torture, to want and need someone so much your heart aches and your mind goes stir crazy thinking about them.

Of course it's pain, strong emotions almost always cause pain at some point in our existence.
