Why are people getting so worked up over what Portis said?

Dogfighting is a disgusting and apalling activity. But did anybody really think he was actually condoning it? Anybody that is a fan knows that Portis is a jokester. He stirkes me as one of those people that try to make things light. I think he was just tired of having the media convict Vick when they have no concrete proof yet. I mean I read what he said and thought nothing of it because come on its Portis. Maybe it wasnt the most PC things to say. But people are taking it way too far.

I didn't say I thought it was funny. I just think the media paid way too much attention to it. All this attention gaven to Portis and Vick and nobody is really focusing on the cousin..

Because people have nothing better to do than whine about what others say. Everyone says stupid stuff. EVERYONE. Everyone has things they've said misinterpreted. The difference here is that he's famous and therefore, for some reason, the typical American believes if you're famous, you shouldn't say stupid stuff ever. I personally think he meant it wasn't any of his business what Michael Vick is doing with his dogs.

Thank God I'm not famous. I say stupid stuff all the time and I certainly don't need most of those morons trying to crucify me.

Sometimes being a jokester means that you have a tendency to put your foot in your mouth, and Portis did just that. Players, with all of the people they have helping them deal with things like the media, should understand that saying something like that is stupid. Nonetheless, Portis isn't the issue here, it is Vick. Vick owned this property. If there is some accountability there, Vick needs to pay for it. Vick has had other issues that he's conviently gotten off. I don't think the media is trying to convict him. Remember the media annoited him as one of the best quarterbacks in the NFL before he'd barely started his career. I remember that. He has been nothing more than average at best. The media has actually been kind to him, but when you become a media darling and you don't live up to it then whatever you do negatively is going to be magnified. In this case we are talking about criminal activity and it should be magnified.

My impression of Portis's comments was that he believes people like Vick should have the ability to keep this sort of thing quiet and personal...that people are blowing the whole thing out of proportion.
It made me wonder what kinds of "personal" illegal things Portis is involved in that he gets a free pass with.
No matter what, Clinton Portis should have kept his mouth shut because he just made the whole situation worse.

Watch the interview, he was not joking. He really thinks that dog fighting is no big deal. I guess he is entitled to his opinion but he deserves to be criticized for it. I do not know if Vick is guilty or not, but neither does Portis. The difference is that I think that if Vick did do it he is disgusting and Portis thinks it is ok.

Man who ever thinks that what portis is messed up is messed up. he sent a message to the media saying he doen't condone dog fighting and that all he was trying to do was to get the people of Vick's back until the evidence was shown. Why don't you guys read everything before talking

True, Portis is Portis. He's obviously being too candid on this subject. He tried to put a light hearted spin on what he thinks is an overpublicized situation, (which it is). He tried to be funny and came across like an idiot, I love Clinton but he should have kept his mouth shut this time.

He is so stupid that it never occured to him that dog fighting is illegal, not to mention one of the most gutless crimes I can think of. He is an overpaid moron that obviously spent about 10 minutes inside a classroom because he was an athlete. He was basically saying that it's alright to Murder, rape, rob, shoot heroin, beat your wife, and dog fight as long as you do it on your property. It's nobody elses business right. If you can't see the ignorance of this guy because your a fan of his, then your just as stupid as he is.

But don't worry Vick will get a free pass as usual. But that's alright cause the panthers D-line will make him wish he was in jail soon enough.
