I would let nature take its course.

It is not about messing with the nature. The nature took a wrong course and the poor whales ended up so far far away from home, and now they have wounds of the propellers on them. They need the healing salty waters of the ocean and they are too disoriented and too much in unfamiliar waters - no pun intended- to find their way home on their own. We all just want to see them return to where they belong and where they will heal, and we are only trying to help them get there without losing more precious time. 70 miles is a long way to go for them at the moment.

How in good conscions could we just watch them die in unfamilar territory, wounded and lost without doing anything about it? We are hoping to lead them to their natural habitat and say goodbye, then let the nature take its course in healing them.

Hope this answers your question.

Right now leaving those two whales alone would be the best option, since using those noisy sound yesterday is frightening them, since they are injured, it's best to leave well enough alone, at the time of the posting they are 70 miles from the Pacific Ocean.

I live here in Sacramento and there have been many heated discussions on how to deal with the whales. They've tried to lure them out and they've tried scaring them out and nothing has worked. I don't think there is much more they can do without severely traumatizing them any more than they already are-so I agree with you that they should just let nature take its course.

This is such a tough call. It's awful to watch the poor creatures slowly die. I wish there was some way to get them on board a ship in a large tank and take them back to sea. I agree that all the noise is probably confusing and scaring them...It's a sad situation.

I'd leave em there.... its their fault. I'm sure whales have been doing this forever...and until dumbass PETA people come along and try to save them. uuuuuh nature?! Duuuh....

You're right... Nature should take its course. Who knows... maybe dead whales on a beach saves countless amounts of seagulls and crabs and other scavenging animals..

So now, to save TWO whales, they are going to kill 200 different animals..

I would help the whales if I could. Why can't the US army help these whales (and do something constructive, for a change)?

Maybe this is natural selection at work? Let them alone.

Maybe this a tiny first step in evolution? Let them alone.

I don't know... cause they are probably scared to death with all these boats beating on metal pipes around them!! But it's hard to just watch them essentially commit suicide cause they don't know any better. I wish there was an easier way to show them how to get home...

I agree totally. It is unkind to chase them and bang loud things at them. My bet says if they left them alone they would be back where they belonged by now!!!!
