If you can LIMIT yourself on how much you can LOSE in the machines and tables each night, go by that.... EXAMPLE...
lets say you decide to only gamble away $100 a NIGHT....then, bring $700 with you---$600 for gambling and $100 for the 6 lunches you will eat while at the casino...or if it's at night, $125 a day in case you eat dinner at the casino. Now, if you lose $100 quickly, that should be IT.... leave the casino till the next day.. If you don't limit yourself, you can blow the entire bank roll in one night. Also, if you should WIN anything, tuck YOUR money away and only play with your WINNINGS.. and the next day, you will have EXTRA to play with because you tucked money away the day before....

I'm a local to Las Vegas. The best tip I can give you is DON'T gamble all your money! I know it is fun and you may win a little but you will lose in the end. You will notice that you never see locals at the tables and that's because we've been there, done that, and lost all our money.

Vegas is really kind of boring if you don't have money. You can walk up and down the strip and see some things for free but that will get old after a few hours. I would definitely suggest seeing a show. Some good ones are "O", Love, Blue Man Group, Phantom of the Opera, Mistere. Tickets range from 85-200 per ticket. You probably wont find any restaurants around the strip for less than 20 / plate. I would say you will need at least 1000.

While it's been years since I've gone, I would take enough for $100 dollars a day gambling and then money for meals - so a couple hundred more...if I did relatively well at the tables, I'd eat a little better. I don't know how it is now, but before, if you were gambling drinks were free. And too, you may want to take in a show or two...some can be really cheap, but some can be $100 on up.

However much you can afford to loose! I always take the amount of money I can afford to loose divide it by the number of days I'll be there, and put that amount for each day in a separate envelope, at the end of each day whatever time that might be, I put whatever I have left (hopefully) back into that envelope and start with the next days money. I never get into money I've already put back & never get into the next days money, that way I'm sure to have fun everyday, and I usually come back with at least a little cash. Hope it works for you, have lots of fun and WIN WIN WIN

If you plan on gambling a lot, at least 3 grand min. Money goes fast.

If you only plan on doing very little gambling at least 2 grand, because drinks and eating are expensive, expecially if you don't gamble and get the drinks for free.
