This is a home remedy that I found on the internet and had no choice but to try on my little one about 1 1/2 years ago when the baby sitter neglected him and left a pee and poop diaper on him for who knows how long.Fry up flour.Just regular flour like the kind you make bisquits or gravy out of.You want to fry it just until the flour turns light brown.Do not put anything in the pan to stop the flour from sticking. It wont stick.Once the flour is a light brown then put in a bowl or plate to cool. When cool apply all over the diaper area with every diaper change making sure to wash the old flour off completly and softly drying the babys skin. The fried flour starts to work right away and you will see a big difference in the rash within a few diaper changes.I think it works better then destin and other leading diaper rash products. The only problem is that the flour will smell the house up real bad while frying it but I would rather have a stinky house for a half hour then a baby in pain with a diaper rash.

I have Weleda from a health food store, but haven't used it yet, but it was recommended to me by my best friend (a nurse in a hospital nursery)

If you're using disposable diapers, you might want to take a break for a week or so and the rash will be more likely to go away. disposables work by trapping moisture into the diaper and keeps it on the skin, giving the feeling of dryness but irritating the skin with the bacteria from the pee and poop. Cloth also forces you to change more often, so less chance of irritation.

I mainly use cloth at home and disposables when we're out. Neither of my kids has had diaper rash (knock on wood)

Desitin is pretty good.

My baby is 7 months and never once had a diaper rash. Here is what I did to make sure he did not get a rash after all prevention is better than cure!

1. I check his diaper regularly to see how heavy it is. I change his diaper promptly whenever he has pooped and every 3 hours even it is not heavy.
2. I let him have some air time so that the skin gets some fresh air. I ussually put him on a plastic mat(mostly table cover which i specifically got for him) so that it is easier to clean if he has peed.
3. whenever I see even a slight red, I immediately dab on vaseline or desitin. i use them alternatively so that he does not develop resistance to one kind
4. I change his diaper last thing in the night and check it if I wake up at night and change it first thing in the morning.

My experience.. Petrolium jelly is the best. Put it on every night when you change your baby's diaper. Since this is the time the daiper is more moist. and also Desitin is good. And every mom should have Aquaphore. The best. Use it for Diaper rash. I always put it on my baby's face after I give hima bath. Any rash that he has on his face.. or the mark left when the babies scratch there face is gone before you even notice. The most important thing is every baby's skin is different. You never know what product is good for ypur baby unless you try it. And also make sure you change your baby's diaper every two to three hours. Espacially new born.
Good luck. I hope this helps

Destin is a very good diaper rash cream. It's been around a long time but it's great at clearing up diaper rash.

I know this sounds really stupid but mylanta works better than anything... my daughter is 13 months old and she has THE WORST problem with diaper rashes and has since 5 or 6 months. So finally I said enough is enough and took her to a dermatoligist and he told me to use mylanta he says that its better than any cream or powder because its Netralizes the PH in the urine and it does something else too..She hasnt had one since we used it.
Oh yeah and it clears the rash away really fast. Anything is worth a try, especially with a rash.

I've always used A & D diaper rash cream. Clears it up within the day

I'm a new mommy to a 19-day-old little girl, so I wasn't sure at all what to do when she had a diaper rash already. We tried A&D ointment and something they gave me at the hospital called "Happy Hiney," but neither of them seemed to make a difference. Balmex reduced the redness in less than 24 hours.

My top choice/favorite is Calmoseptine. (It's not prescription, but you have to ask for it behind the pharmacy counter.) It's great--very thick (so it won't immediately soak into the diaper like most creams) and it contains calamine and menthol--very soothing to a sore/chapped butt! Gets rid of BAD diaper rash practically over night.

Second is Triple Paste, and third is Boudreaux's Butt Paste.
