Is there anyway to download a program so I could connect my computer to the television and use the program as a remote control? lol weird questions pop into my mind every so often. If theres not a way it would be cool.

Almost every mainboard have a IrDA port integrated, but it is not enabled because most of assemblers dont plug the IrDA connector. you must 1st of all get one of those, or get a usb/IrDA device. And then just go www.softpedia.com or www.sourceforge.net and download the remote control TV emulator. By the way you must get in mind the capability of the IrDA device you get, and usb-IrDA could get a longer distance.

The IRDA port is not sufficiently bright to control other infra red devices . It only has an effective range of a couple of feet.

Sorry.
