Last Kiss - Pearl Jam
Lyrics =
O where O where can my baby be
The lord took her away from me
She gone to heaven so I've got to be good
to see my baby when I leave this world.
We were out on a date in my daddys car. we hadnt driven very far. there in
The road, straight ahead. a car was stalled, the engine was dead.
I couldnt stop, so I swerved to the right. Ill never forget the sound that
Night. the screamin tires, the bustin glass. the painful scream that I heard

CARROLL COUNTY ACCIDENT
G D
Carroll County's pointed out as kind of square
G
The biggest thing that happens is the county fair,
G D
I guess that's why we thought it such a big event,
G
What we call the Carroll County accident.
The wreck was on the highway just outside the line,
Walter Browning lost his life and for a time
It seemed that Mary Ellen Jones would surely die,
But she lived long enough for her to testify.
Mary Ellen testified that he flagged her down,
Said he was sick and could she drive him into town,
No one ever doubted what she said was true,
'Cause she was well respected in the county too.
I went down to see the wreck like all the rest,
The broken glass the bloody seats the tangled mess,
But I found something no one else had ever seen,
Behind the dash in Mary's crumpled up machine.
A little match box circled by a rubber band,
And inside the ring from Walter Browning's hand,
It took awhile to figure out just what it meant,
The truth about the Carroll County accident.
By dark of night I dropped the ring into a well,
And took a sacred oath that I would never tell,
The truth about the Carroll County accident,
For the County ordered dad a marble monument,
Yes, I lost him in the Carroll County accident.

RE:
Anyone know any really sad songs about car accidents?
I vaguely remember a song about a man who loses his wife to a car crash and the picture in my mind when i listen to it is of a rainy night. Does anyone have any idea what this song could be? I am not even sure if it's country.

Last Kiss was written by Wayne Cochran in 1962.
J. Frank Wilson and the Cavaliers hit # 2 on the Top 40 charts in 1964 with the song. It was remade in 1974 by Wednesday, and remade again in 1999 by Pearl Jam.
It was written about a true accident that happened in Barnesville, Georgia. The girl who died was named Jeanette Clark. She was 16 years old.
That was 1962...she would have been 61 today.
There's also Tonight Is The Night I Fell Asleep At The Wheel
by Barenaked Ladies. That is about a guy dying in a car wreck.
And of course, there's The Leader of the Pack by the Shangri-La's:
He sorta smiled, and kissed me goodbye
the tears were beginning to show,
as he drove away on that rainy night, I begged him to go slow.
whether he heard, I'll never know ( no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no )
look out look out look out!
...hope that helps.
EDIT: I forgot one rather obscure one called Accident on 34th Street by Al Stewart:

"Riding with Private Malone", by David Ball, and "Go Back", by Chalee Tennsson are two country songs about car accidents that come to my mind right away. Also, "Don't Laugh at Me", by Mark Wills has a line about a car accident. I don't recognize the song you are talking about though.

It would be "Last Kiss" by Pearl Jam, but another good song is one by Rascal Flatts, "What hurts the Most".
And to the guy above...Piehole??? How 7th grade!!! More than likely she's heard it recently...not back in 1962!
