My personal thought is it was someone that wasn't on the island. We don't know how far ahead that flash forward was. Of course the show will slowly work its way to that part we saw in the season finale. This makes me think it could have been someone else, perhaps a "rescuer". In the above link you can make out part of the deceased name :
Jo(e)?___ _____antham
btw, it is definetly a man.

Was Locke from New York? The news clipping said the person was from New York.
Personally I was thinking Juliet or even Ben, based on the fact that NObody came, and by Kate's reaction (Juliet)
I would think that some of the other surviviors would have come to Locke's funeral.
At least Walt would have made an "appearance" ! ;;- )

My first thought was that it was Sawyer but when Kate showed up and made some comment about "him" not knowing she had come to see Jack, then that changed my thinking. Ben is the next best candidate because everyone despised him and I don't think Locke would leave the island unless he was carried off involuntarily. It's a long, long way to January!

it's being speculated that it was ben. i don't think so. personally, i think it was sawyer or juliet. enhanced screencaps of the article suggest the name was jeremy ----tham. no one can really tell. i doubt the substance of the article is very important seeing as how enhanced screencaps revealed that juliet was looking at a 50 year old male heart patient's file when ben handed the her the file that was supposed to be her sister's medical file.

It was Michael. Walt's father.
1) It was an African-American neighborhood
2) Jack told the funeral director he was neither friend nor family. He would not be Michael's friend after he betrayed them to the others
3) Kate would not go as she hold Michael responsible for the betrayal

Did anyone else notice the neighborhood they were in? It was a more 'economical' area. Think that has any clues to it?
Heck, it could be someone we haven't met yet. There is a boat load full of people yet to meet.

Strange- everyone is saying Locke, but my feeling was that it was Sawyer, and Kate wouldnt have gone because she was with some other dude at that point.

Nobody knows right now. They didn't give us any clues. I was hoping Jack would open up the casket and let us see who is was. Whoever it was, Kate looked disgusted by it.
