Distance = rate * time

The distance is the same, so

rate* time (fast plane) = rate * time (slow plane)

Let r = speed of slow plane
then r + 75 = speed of fast plane

then

3(r + 75) = 3.6 r

3r + 225 = 3.6 r

0.6r = 225

r = 375 mph (speed of slow plane)

r + 75 = 450 mph (speed of fast plane)

Distance = 450 * 3 = 1350 miles

or

Distance = 375 * 3.6 = 1350 miles
.
