I can just see him now, entering as a pitch runner after a walk to pitch hitter, Julio Franco. He goes on the first pitch, still has some speed for his age. Diving head first into second his fluorescent green Mizuno batting gloves blind the crowds eyes. "Safe!" the blue yells with an authoritive sweep of the arms. The crowd cheers, as Rickey calls time. He gets up and hoists the bag in the air as the oldest man to steal a base. Crazy to think how few players remain from the 1980's, and here's a man who was in the bigs during the 70's.
Probably won't happen, though. We can only imagine...

Rickey Henderson is a BEAST!!! Some team should definitely sign him. I mean he leads the entire MLB in stolen bases. Another cool thing about him is that he was born on Christmas, that's AWESOME. Somebody should definitely sign Rickey Henderson. It's definitely Rickey Record Time. BRING BACK RICKEY HENDERSON!!!!!

i do in contrast to Rickey Henderson the two, yet your premises that Ichiro is a greater powerful participant are slightly far fetched. one ingredient you ignore is that Henderson is interior the superb 5 lfetime in walks, meaning that on an analogous time as his batting usual replaced into no longer extreme, he ended up with an exceedingly extreme on base proportion. That meant that he had an excellent variety of opportunities to scouse borrow bases, meaning the caught stealins did no longer harm as plenty. Henderson replaced into additionally a much greater powerful potential hitter than Ichiro. on an analogous time as I relatively have heard that Ichiro would desire to hit greater homeruns if he needed to, i'd say 2 issues. One, he hasn't. 2, being that Ichiro has been the suitable participant in that lineup the final 2 or 3 years why shouldn't he have tried to hit greater homeruns to grant his group the lead. Henderson additionally has gained international sequence for Toronto and Oakland and made the playoffs in a pair of different places. back, Rickey replaced into cocky and boastful, yet he's an all-time large, and Ichiro is a singles hitter.

If Julio Franco can play, why not Rickey. I just want to see him steal a base, grab a microphone and pronounce himself the greatest early-bird special base stealer of all time.
We've had too much Barry & Clemens & Giambi crap; we need Rickey to bring back some fun to MLB.

Loved Rickey when he was playing and you know what, he might still be able to steal a base or two. Can't wait to hear his induction speech into the hall-of-fame.

No, he's almost 50, his playing days are over. He now works with the New York Mets in spring training as a baserunning coach and is a huge part of Jose Reyes' success.

They can take back the advertisements.
They just milk ever last bit of space in their stadiums and down time.
I would not be surprised if the players stat getting personal endorsements on their uniforms.
