Depends if you are going to have medicine with your birth.
Now they can make it less than having cramps
Talk to you doctor and get their advice
Try to stay away from listening to all the women's stories. Or I should say DON'T LISTEN TO THEM.
I am a mom myself and that's all I heard was Blah Blah and my was nothing like any of them said
Don't stress out it is not worth it for you or your baby

Well, I know I'll be criticized for correcting you, but it's just so hard to ignore. The question should be "How painful is the birth of a child on the mother?" or more accurately, "How painful is delivering a child vaginally?"
It's painful, I've been through it twice, and hope to go through it again two more times. I'm married though, and that makes a big difference, my husband was by my side the whole time, and supported me in my decision to have an epidural. Which I highly recommend!LOL! It made the whole process much more pleasant!

It hurts but if you get an epidural that helps a lot. (Don't let anybody talk you into "natural" child birth.) They won't give you the epidural until you are almost fully dilated, though.
Also, take a birthing class. They will tell you what to expect and give you some breathing techniques that may be helpful.
The pain you will feel while you are dilating is more like really bad cramps, not like getting a arm torn off or something.
Like billions of other women, you will get through it and after wards you will say "That wasn't so bad."

Forget what you see on TV. It's not real. Yes, childbirth hurts, but there are also many medicines these days that take away the pain and make childbirth almost comfortable. The most common is an epidural which blocks the pain completely so all you feel is some pressure. I've had 6 natural and, no, I don't like pain at all so it can't be that horrible!!

It depends upon the person, whether they are having complications, and the childbirth method they use (if any). TV wants to make it dramatic to get your attention. I used the Bradley method with all four of mine. I never had any pain medication. I have had hunger pains before that were worse than labor. The Bradley method uses total relaxation to prevent your uterus from cramping. Then labor feels like a dull ache that comes and goes, similar to the pain you feel if you hold your mouth open wide for a long time.
If a person tenses up, then the uterus will cramp and that is what causes the pain. My labor felt nothing like a cramp.

It is very painful. There is drugs to help the pain. But yes very painfull. something for when your ready. And it is all worth it when you are holding that little peanut in your arms. With your husband by your side. The pain is so hard to explain.I know it hurts BAD.

yes it is, but don't be scared of it....you can ask for drugs, but some people actually prefer to go natural...i have a low tolerance level for pain so i got an epidural and it was great...
the real pain comes AFTER the delivery, when you are trying to recover and take care of your newborn at the same time. it helps if you have a family member stay with you to help out . but you forget about how painful it is and after a few years you start thinking about having another!!!

I had my first at 15, and yes, it is painful without an epidural. But you need to be careful about having an epidural done because of your age, they would not give one to me. Just to let you know, that after you have the baby you will bounce back a whole lot quicker than when you get older. Good luck, hon!

Ya want the truth? It hurts worse than anything you can now imagine. It is also true that there are exercises you can do during pregnancy and medications you can take during delivery that will help a lot and once you see that baby and hold him or her in your arms, it is also true that pain will be wiped from your mind.

I honestly think they over do that a litlle. There is pain in some births, but I didnt have any. I got a epideral shot and was in heaven. Some are not so lucky. But your so happy when you have a baby, you dont even realize what you just did. I dont know how to explain it.
