We've had a couple of cases of poltergeist activity in houses where there were no teenagers - but there were children. I don't think I've ever come across true poltergeist activity where there were just adults. Either way, it's scary stuff!

The connection between reported poltergeist activity and teenagers was made by early psychical researcher (and skeptic) Frank Podmore who was a member of the Society for Psychical Research (still in existence today) in England who said all cases "were due to tricky little boys and girls" and the phrase and concept has become a stereotype. The most complete study to date (to the best of my knowledge) is a book entitled "Poltergiest" by William Roll. What is usually one of the psychological factors in poltergeist cases in unexpressed (repressed) emotion, tension, stress, etc. This would certainly include many of past (if not todays) teenagers. The theory is that being unable to express themselves the mind does it for them. This could include an abused housewife, a frustrated employee, and of course teenagers.
Most reported cases of poltergiests do not involve teenagers contrary to the popular myth created by Podmore. Counseling and open communication has ended numerous poltergeist cases.

The evidence for poltergeist activity around teenagers is exactly equal to the evidence of poltergeist activity amongst the general population--zero.

"Poltergeist activity" seems to only center around pranksters and jumpy nervous people who see ghosts everywhere they look.
