If I get a Japanese cruiser do I have to pretend to believe { Harleys Suck} to be accepted by other metric riders?

Also, if I remove all the fasteners and re-thread them and replace them with U.S. bolts ,would it still be a {Metric} ?

The bandwagon gets more riders all the time.
I didn't expect it of you, hammer.
You know the deal, ride what you want.
Leave the fishing to others.

I ride a Honda VTX, my guy rides a Harley. We tease each other all the time about our choice in bikes, but I have never actually had a HD rider put me down for riding my "rice burner". It's all in fun and I give as good as I get. Sure, it would would be fun to have a Harley, but I just can't afford it and I am totally happy with my Honda.
The most important thing is to get what you can afford and get out there on the road. If you are a new rider, I definately recommend a used bike, whether it's a HD or metric bike. When you drop it, the less expensive the bike, the less you feel the pain, believe me!

Trust me on this, over 33 years of riding including 6 years of working at shops that sold Metrics & H-D, I've seen this dilemma before. If you want a Harley nothing else satisfies, so either buy used or save up. Otherwise you will be sitting on a bike you don't like, still wishing you could buy the Harley. Nothing against the Metrics, they're all good bikes, but that is the way it works out. I have seen too many people make that mistake, but if you must buy a Metric then get 1 used, so you don't lose as much on trade-in or resale, at least you'll be riding. But, honestly, try not to. By the way, although there is a lot of kidding around, I've rarely seen any true animosity between bikers.

Just be yourself and not a wannabe!!!
If you want H-D then get H-D, they have bikes that start at $6595 so there is no excuse to buy something you don't want. If you end up with something you don't want then you will be like some of these morons here making i.d.i.o.t comments about diff brands because they are jealous and full of envy. And about the fasteners and bolts well you need some education on that my friend, even H-D has metric parts on them! By you adding that last comment makes me think if you are old enough to ride a cruiser...

There are Harley riders who think everything else sucks, there's metric cruiser riders that think Harley's suck. Fortunately these are the minority on both accounts. Most people are reasonable and respect the fact that you're riding period. It's all about getting your knees in the breeze. Regardless of what the name on the tank says, the fact is that you're out there on your bike enjoying yourself.

Ah jeez. You know what, ride what you can afford and screw what anyone else says. You don't have to pretend anything, if you respect others you'll be fine. I have a Harley now, but I had a Honda for a long time. I always loved Harleys and riding. Nobody every gave me any sh!t. And I was riding in Milwaukee for the 100th. As long as you love the road nobody cares what you have, as long as you're not a d!ck. Just ride, screw acceptance.

Leecavcu hit the nail on the head. The only people who gave me crap for not having a Harley were people who didn't ride at all.

Metric owners do not believe all harleys suck. Most harley owners feel the same about metric owners. The common thread NO matter the bike you ride is the fact that you RIDE and we are all brothers &sisters on that common ground.

I started out on a Kawasaki 500 while working at a Harley Dealership. The people who gave me crap were the people who knew nothing about their bikes. Even the other mechanics said "at least you're riding. that's what matters".

Metric guys who hate harley guys usually do because harley guys hate metric guys. It's just a circle of hate.

# 1 Usually only Harley owners bother to swear by them, You should like the bike you buy and try a Yamaha Star they are awsome and have a good following...
#2 Metric refers to to non USA not the bolt system, though most US stuff has metric bolts now and Harley's are not made in the USA stamped anymore....

Just ride bro. I dont dislike Harley's. I just dont want to pay an extra few thousand dollars for a bike thats just as good as a jap bike with a set of good exhaust. I ride a Honda Shadow Spirit 750, with Cobra pipes and I love the hell out of it. So do most of the guys who own a Harley that I ride with.

You are correct sir. Before you are allowed to purchase a Japanese bike you must swear that you will always talk smack about Harley's and promise to never wave at a passing Harley rider.
