This is something I've ofter wondered. I suppose I could research it, but I thought I'd get your ideas. I mean, I know that there would be serious problems without flies, but what would happen to the ecosystem if mosquitos, ticks or even fleas, for that matter, would just disappear? Does anything specialize on these creatures? What good are they?

I would agree that at least at face value, the main purpose for the existence of fleas, ticks and mosquitoes is to be eaten.

I also would like to state that there is a balance in the ecosystem. It is constantly shifting, but as things change other, sometimes seemingly unrelated, things change as well. Even if it were possible, which I doubt, it would be extremely reckless to completely eliminate these species, as they may be more necessary than we know.

You are making the assumption that everything has a specific purpose to serve some greater good.

Mosquitos, ticks, and fleas do what they do in their own self interest, not mine, not yours, or anyone elses.

The ecosystem is constantly changing. Species have been dieing out all the time and the econsystem responds accordingly. There is no balance. The ecosystem is dynamic and always will be.

they are good for nothing, I got bit by a mosquito and I did not like it, and I am sure dogs and cats do not like fleas and ticks. If research shows otherwise I would check on the researchers credibility.

nicely I wager you may argue that God created the attitude of evolution which inevitably finally leads to fleas, ticks etc. additionally, some varieties of bacteria are mandatory in our our bodies etc. however devoid of doubt deadly viruses tie into the finished catch 22 undertaking of evil/discomfort quandary. TBH i do no longer consistently see the easy-experience of the catch 22 undertaking of evil which potential there is no God or afterlife--that sounds even worse, in view that it attitude each and every guy or woman who dies early or have lives of discomfort devoid of trouble end to exist and luxuriate in oblivion. even however if there's a God or extra desirable powers of a few type, I wager a controversy could be made that they have got been cruel or sadistic. yet with fairly success there's an even bigger reason, and in all risk this is the single potential a functioning universe could additionally be.

Ticks... I don't know. I'm thinking they are just another link to the food chain, like the mosquitoes.
