If you are figuring out two numbers greatest common faactors and they have nothing in common what do you do? for example my problem is Find the greatest common factors of 28 and 45: I have
28=2*2*7
45=3*3*5
Did I do something wrong?

No. These 2 numbers have no prime factor in common,
so their greatest common factor is 1.
We call such a pair of numbers relatively prime.

They will always have 1 as a common factor. When that's their only common factor, as is the case with 28 and 45, we say they are relatively prime.

If 2 numbers have no common factor then they are considered co-prime.

28=2²*7
45=3²*5

so they are coprime and the gcf = 1

So you got it exactly right.

Then the answer is 1.

28 = 1 * 28
45 = 1 * 45
