They're recarpeting and repainting at my work now (not my office, just next to it).

I'm 27 weeks pregnant, and of course the smells bug me (but not to the point of nausea).

I've got the outside door open to let in some fresh air. Is there anything else I should do to keep my baby safe? Should I just leave for the rest of the day?

Paint fumes are toxic to the unborn baby. But it is really up to you if you want to stay or go. I think it would be better for you to go home. I worked in an office at one point (not pregnant) they were doing the same thing, and let me tell you, it make me sick to my stomach, so I can just about imagine being pregnant in that situation. If they can do without you for the day I would ask to leave.

I also work at a building where they were remodeling and the glue and paint smells were very strong. I was lucky and had an understanding female boss that actually sent me home because she didn't want to feel responsible if anything happened because of what I was breathing in even though it wasn't our office being remodeled.
I would go home if I were you.

I'd go ahead and ask for the day off. You cannot work effectively if the fumes are getting to you. And besides, it is a violation of OSHA standards to require someone to work in those conditions.
