I had my first ultra sound yesterday. The ultrasound suggested that i was 6 weeks and 5 days pregnant, you couldnt really see anything during the ultrasound, other than a small white blinking dot * the dr. informed me that was the heart beating* If I go by my last monthly cycle, I should be 7 weeks and 5 days ... My dr. pointed this out with concern, saying he didnt think the baby was developing fast enough, and is having me come back in a week to do another ultrasound ... to make sure the baby is developing! being a first time mom, this is a tad bit scary, -- Has anyone else ever experienced something like this or have any advice on it. Thanks so much for any input!

my best advice is try not to get too upset. I have also had ultrasounds that were not readable. Now 7 months pregnant. All is normal. Some babies grow more one month and less others. Every baby is different. Try to relax, take deep breaths, take your vitamins and eat lots of veggies and fruit.

Hello there. I have had four pregnancies and have been told the same thing with two of them. If you were two weeks or more off it would be more of a concern. As long as you see the baby's heart beat I would feel a whole lot more confident. May I ask if it was a regular ultrasound, or was it vaginal, because the ultrasound machines sometimes are not as accurate as the vaginal ones. Also, as you get further along in your pregnancy you weeks along will probably change. Go for the follow-up, but personally I don't think that you have a whole lot to be worried about. Your due date will probably change four or five times before it's accurate, I know all four of mine did! The best of luck to you!

You wouldn't see too much at 7 weeks, except a small blob in a sac with a blinking dot (the heart).
It could be cause for concern that you're measuring a week behind, but you also may have ovulated and implated later than what is considered "normal." Plus, an ultrasound can be off by a few days, anyway. Try to relax until your next ultrasound (I know it's hard). Good luck.

This is really early on. There's no real way to tell when you actually conceived, so you could really only be 6 weeks 5 days - as long as he saw a beating heart, you're fine for now.
With my first pregnancy, I went in and what I thought was 7 weeks - they couldn't even SEE the heartbeat at first. I went back a week later and there it was - turns out I was only 5 weeks along the first time. Hang in there.

It could have taken about a week for the fetilized egg to be implanted into the uterus. This is really hard to tell. They will do measurements each time you have an ultrasound to make sure what is happening and to monitor the growth. Sometimes there is just a natural selection and your body will abort the baby or not allow it to grow if there is a problem. These things are not determined by us.
Good luck & lots of blessings

I find that kind of odd that your doctor seemed so concerned. At my 20 week ultrasound my baby was measuring a "week small" too, and nobody seemed to mind one bit.
Not everybody ovulates at the exact same time in their cycle, it's probably just that you ovulated and became pregnant a little later in your cycle. That's great if your doc wants to monitor your baby's growth (that's his job), but I wouldn't worry about it much at this point.

As long as the baby's heart is beating I wouldn't be concerned. It may be that you didn't conceive when you think you did, perhaps your cycle is a bit irregular. In any case I think its a little early to know if the baby is developing fast enough. Good luck :)

your cycle date could be off, or you could ovulate irregularly. my first dates with my son were off by almost 2 weeks from the ultrasound. seeing the heartbeat is a good thing, it means that one of the most important organs is developing!

My friend has been told three different times now that her dates dont match the babies development. Of course you will be worried but dont stress yourself out. Its not good to stress. Just wait and see how your appt goes next week.

I think is normal you're a little nervous. My advice is this: Put your baby in the God's hands and rest in Him. Don't worry for anything and enjoy each day!
