Ok im 15 and throw a 4 seam, 2 seam, splitter and Knuckle Curve. The problem is how can i know if my knuckle curve is really breaking or if it is a fat meatball. It goes up and then drops but i just cant tell.

The success or lack of success a hitter has will determine if it is a good pitch. Can you throw it for strikes? Can you throw it behind in the count? Is it your strike out pitch when you get to two strikes? This will determine how good it is!!

as an athletic director and coach i advise you to stick with your fastballs, if those pitches have movement they are hard enough to hit at your level of play and your elbow will last longer. just like your splitter the knuckle-curve is a feel pitch. If you still insist on throwing this type of pitch use a camera to film your release point and the trajectory of the pitch. Watch mike mussina since he throws that pitch more than anyone.

is it getting hit alot? If the batters are not seeing it, it is a great pitch. I throw my knuckle curve really hard just 5-8 mph off of the fastball. If it doesn't break it usually goes pretty high and in. Barely stays in the zone (low and out) when it's on.

You can throw a splitter at 15 and you can't tell if your nuckle curve is dropping properly, maybe you need to try and just stick with a splitter.

Are you in a baseball or softball league!? The size of a baseball are the same for all. A bigger meatball would be considered a Softball.

Does it get hit about 370 feet? Or do they just rip it all over the park? If not probably is fooling the hitters and is breaking.

The opponents batting against you is the best way to tell. If they hit it, the pitch is not working for you.

This is why you have a coach. This is also something that you can ask of the umpire, or your catcher, or of any of the hitters.
