Because MySpace is a networking application...they can meet new people, connect with their friends, etc.
The other products you have mentioned are just search engines, which do not provide the same type of services.
Having a MySpace page does NOT expose you to everyone online...you can keep your page private, and only share it with people you know. It's all in how you use it, really.

I DON'T like myspace, and my kids will not be allowed to touch it.
I guess people let their kids do it because they don't know that they are exposed to everyone on line.

people like myspace because they can express themselves way they can't in real life. most of those people are teens and young adults.
