This version is the logo for the band HIM but I believe it to come from celtic knot symbolisim. the triangle or the 3 in 1 knot represents God's love and the 2 in 1 represents a partners love and connection to their other half. Their love of God supporting their love together and vice versa. A rather romantic idea if you think about it. New age people have adopted it to their own meanings for spirituality and meditation. I believe one organization has adopted the symbol to signify adoption with the three points being you the child and their genetic parent and love being the joining force. I believe the original symbol had religous meaning as historically most all art work and symbolism have roots there. In the end like with all symbolism, you must ask yourself, "what does it mean to you?"...
