I didn't know I was supposed to dryclean it :(

I hope you didn't really like that sweater too much cause once it's shrunk it's not ever going to go back to normal size ! I know cause I did the same thing a few years ago with a sweater someone gave me.All I can suggest is that you can go get a cute teddy bear and dress it in the sweater.At least then it won't be a total waste.

You can't. But here's an idea and I'm serious: find someone who can wear it. A friend's husband accidentally shrunk her sweater so she gave it to her six year old niece. Yes that's how much it shrunk!

Wash your sweater again in COLD water - then lay flat to dry, but stretch all areas in an even fashion while drying. Normally, you shouldn't was anything of natural fibers (cotton, wool, etc) in hot water or throw them in the dryer on hot temperatures unless you want them to shrink. Synthetic fibers like spandex and nylon don't shrink (most of the time, although I have had a freak shrink or two from time to time).
