Miss Kitty straightened up from leaning against the bar when Matt's shadow fell across the doorway. "Hunk alert! Hunk alert!" her brain whispered as she fixed her hair. One grey strand worked free of the red and she sighed. My youth is nearly spent, she thought. Watching him stop to speak to Doc, she thought: If only I could make you love me again, as you did twenty years ago, I could show you that everything you heard about me is true.
She smoothed her dress over her belly where Sam's baby kicked gently against her ribs, and thought, No, I know I made the right decision. My dreams are coming true.

Everything you have heard about me is true. I am growing old. My youth is nearly spent. Now when I look back on my life I realize that I’ll never again hear the old refrain “Hunk alert! Hunk alert!” when I walk down the street. Time seems to be the enemy.
When I was younger, I know I made the right decision to be who I wanted to be, and to see all of my dreams coming true, but now I see them fading away. If I could only make you love me again!

Amusing enough for you?

My youth was nearly spent,as I traveled to spring break for my 25th birthday.I was with my best friend, the both of us searching for the something we lost years ago.I know I made the right decision I thought to myself as my friend nearly knocked me over yelling Hunk alert!Hunk alert!.

My dreams are coming true.He is walking towards us,I realize its Jake,my one and only true love from freshman year in college,he is still gorgeous,he's getting closer,oh if I could only make you love me again as he drew nearer and embraced me.He asked me a question I could barely answer not wanting to waste our time on small talk,i responded everything you heard about me is true. Then the alarm went off and I woke up to prepare for a long hard day at work, cause seewhat I missed was my chance to go to college.

(With apologies. No Gunsmoke references.)

I was apprehensive about going to my fortieth reunion. I had been kind of an outcast in the class of 1968 at Millard Fillmore High School in Beloit, KS. For that reason, I had mainly made friends with boys that were older or younger than myself. I had recently divorced, however, and I was determined to see Laurel King, my old high school sweetheart. It had taken me two years to get over her when we broke up after I went away to college. I hadn’t forgotten her, and I wanted to see if I could rekindle the old flames. As soon as I entered the crepe paper-festooned gym, I spotted her near the folding bleachers on the visitors side. She happened to be standing alone, but I knew that wouldn’t be for long; if anything, she had aged into a stunning and mature woman. I quickly crossed the floor and took her hand. “If I could only make you love me again,” I blurted out. “My youth is nearly spent, but I’d give anything to make up the years we’ve wasted apart.” I was surprised at my own temerity. It was very much against my nature to be so forward. “I had to break up with you when you went to Calvin Coolidge University,” said Laurel. “We were too immature then, and I knew our love could never survive four years of separation. I know I made the right decision, but I’ve been thinking of you, too, over the years. I must warn you, though, that everything you have heard about me is true.” I was taken aback. I hadn’t heard anything about Laurel, and couldn’t imagine that she would do anything that would sully her name. I asked for details. “Well,” she replied, “for awhile I rode with an outlaw motorcycle gang.” She went on to tell me lurid stories of sex, drugs, and alcohol-induced violence. She finally left the motorcycle gang when they kicked her out for being a bad influence. “How could this possibly be?” I thought to myself. “How could this woman who seems so refined, and who has such regal beauty have done these sordid things she has described?” Just then, Jerry Mosier strode past us from the bar and Laurel yelled out, “Hunk alert! Hunk alert!” It seemed that Laurel had retained a part of that wild, unrestrained side that she had developed as a young woman. I told Laurel that I didn’t care about the stories or what she might have done in the past. If she was willing to have me, I’d do anything to be with her again. That was nearly a year ago. Laurel has moved into my house, and, if anything, her experience has made her a much more “interesting” companion than she had been forty years ago. In middle age, my dreams are coming true.
