There are power adapters that can plug into either the wall or into a car lighter socket.

The alternative is to get a power inverter. This plugs into your car lighter socket and then produces 120V AC out of a standard outlet (or outlets). Make sure you get one that has enough power to support your laptop.
A power inverter tends to be cheaper than an AC/DC laptop adapter and allows you to power other mains powered devices.
The down side is that you now have two devices to carry - the inverter and the power adapter. Not too bad if you are just in the one car. A pain if you are jetting from place to place.
NOTE: Power inverters and AC/DC adapters both pull significant power, which means significant current. Only plug these devices directly into a manufacturer installed outlet.
Using splits and post-manufacturer add on outlets can cause voltage drops which lead to excessive current draws which can degrade the contacts causing even higher currents. Eventually the power dissipated due to the voltage drop across the degraded contacts along with the high current can melt the plastic of the connectors and there is a potential for a fire risk.

Yes, there are car adapters.
Just visit you local computer store with the make and model of your laptop. They will get you what you need.
You can even use a small 12v to 110v inverter.

If you're talking as a power source for battery back up - you bet there is! Check with your laptops manufacturer for their recommendation (part #) -- or you can also go to any computer store in your area and ask for their recommendations -- just make sure to take your make/model # with you :)

What you want is a power inverter, it plugs in to your cigarette lighter then you plug just about anything into it. It cost less than $50 dollars. here is what they look like

IF YOU CANT FIND AN ADAPTER U CAN USE AN INVERTER. THIS WILL ALSO BE VERY HELPFUL WITH LIGHTS ETC FOR CAMPING ETC
