President Bush today announced that an agreement had been reached between his administration and congress--------he went on to state that negotiations produced a compromise bill to get the money to our troops that had less pork in it than the failed bill.-----My question is why do we sit back on our haunches and tolerate elected officials to continue to violate the will of the people by overriding our will and inserting these pet projects into everything? It feels like we are victims of greed here----------how do you feel?

Also---can anyone tell us exactly WHAT these pet projects are and how much money is being allocated for that purpose because I never got that memo????

I don't have a link to the bill. But I saw it. You would not have believed the billions of pork in that bill. I think that every Congressperson put something in that bill.

It was like kids with a Wishbook at Christmas. They knew that they wouldn't get it across the President's desk, but that didn't keep them from dreaming.

Don't believe anything you hear about Republican spending. It is always less than the Liberals. Always.

It is all about votes. This will happen no matter who is voted for in each house. The only thing you can do is keep getting someone new time after time until you get the right one. These elected officials really think they know what "there people want" even though they are 5 hours away by plane. Come on! My senator has no idea what it is I truly think this country needs. Unless I give him $1000.00 for a dinner and maybe I might get a handshake out of it. Here is the link to the pork as it was voted on in the senate.

I can't tell you the pet projects listed but I'll tell you why we don't do anything about it. These pet projects make the congressman look good IN HIS DISTRICT or STATE. That makes the people that vote for him or her happy. Then they vote again. What it would take is for people to realize that some of these things happening in their backyard aren't good for the country as a whole and are a waste of valuable taxpayer dollars. Once we are willing to recongnize that, then we can vote these weasels out.

You can do like we are with immigration, send emails to the senate, the house and the President, do not be overly polite, but demand they pull everything out except for the troops..

DEMAND IT, these jerks work for us and tell them so.

Once again... this is something EVERY Congress does; it's how they buy votes. There's not one Congress that has ever been immune to this behavior. Not one.
