This is a tough question as I've lived in both.

In CT, you had GREEN, LOTS of it. Every day, the same green oak trees everywhere you look, except in the winter when it got cold and you had to shovel snow. After many years, it got kind of boring. Plus, in CT there's not too too much to do. Though, on the plus side, Boston and NY were pretty close drives.

In Texas, you didn't have snow, so that's nice, but the summers are a tad hot. And it gets so hot sometimes that you really don't want to go out. And if you did, you end up going from air conditioned house, to air conditioned car, to air conditioned mall, to air conditioned car, etc. Not real good for exercise. Speaking of cars, the drivers in TX are by far some of the worst, definitely top three (and I have driven in over 40 states). They have a difficult time merging and figuring out that the left lane is NOT the lane everyone's assigned to to drive in 90% of the time.

That aside, TX is nice in that you can fly to about anywhere in the US from DFW pretty much on a nonstop flight. That's a plus. Also, because of the heat (I'm guessing), the DFW is a HUGE mecca for theaters, shopping, and restaurants. Not only are there more screens per capita in this area than anywhere else in the country, but many restaurant chains test concept stores out here b/c soooo many people like the convenience of just "buying" whatever.

So all in all, more stuff to do in TX, but I like the four seasons of CT. As a person going out a lot, I'd like TX more. As a person raising a family, I might like CT more.

Hope that helps!

I actually enjoyed LIVING in Texas more. Connecticut was near a lot of very interesting places, and there was a lot to see and do (particularly going to NYC). But as a single person, I found Fairfield County to be a very tough place to live - hard to meet people - if your family (or at least YOU) haven't been there for years, you're considered a 'transient' i.e. not worth investing time in. It was also just plain hard to 'live' e.g. get laundry done, house cleaned, errands etc.
In Texas, EVERYBODY used to live somewhere else, so they're happy to know you for as long as you're (and they're) around. It's also cheaper to live, and the daily services are easier to get done. It's also easier to get out of town (to Cancun or Denver) .... but there is less to do IN Texas, and the weather is TERRIBLE.

I suppose that the most off-putting thing about either of those two places is that they are filled with people of a certain mentality. Having lived in both of those locations I can say with some conviction that either group can come off as rude or maybe just annoying to some people.
So for the sake of simplicity I'll say that it's REALLY hot in Texas and those people are a special kind of crazy for living there.

Living in Texas would make me want to literally cut my throat open. I'm from MA, so I'm very familiar with CT and unfortunately spent 2 long months down in TX a couple of years ago. I have to say it's by far the worst place I have ever been. The people suck, the weather sucks, everybody is broke, and it's literally like living in another planet, talk about 3rd world living. How can you even compare CT to TX? CT is one of the richest states in the US and TX is one giant $hithole.

Texas. New England rocks! And Conn. has as all the seasons but it never gets too hot or too cold to stand it. Texans seem smug to me. (Texans please don’t take offense, I don’t know ya’ll personally so I’m speaking in generalities here and this is just my perception) Most everyone I have met from Conn. has been very friendly like northern New Englanders yet hip like Long Islanders. The coast and mountains are near by. Not much variation in landscape in Texas from what I remember. So yeah, Connecticunt (that’s what me and my friends call it.) is best but DON’T GO TO HARTFORD unless you have too. Stay coastal; it’s nicer and less crime.

Connecticut! Not enough warm weather and sunshine. The people here are rather uptight too.
