I totally disagree. I don't listen to much music but I have heard many country songs. There are a lot of songs about life and seem more down to reality then most other songs I have heard. Dolly Parton's "Coat of many Colours' tells of a difficult time in her life and how her mother stitches together something for her as a child. I would say country song writers are really very mature people from the songs I have heard.

The lyrics is the charm. These songs usually tell a story or share an insight. The music is good, but what really separates country is that the narrative -- something most other categories don't do. Jazz vocals come close.
Given a choice between sophistication and sophistry, I think I'll choose country.

I think it's very unfair to say but you do have a right to your opinion. But if you listen to more of it there is more to it. You are basing it off of very few songs. I like a little bit of everything when it comes to music. If you listen to Big and Rich they are very different from what your all saying, there are several great ones.

BUT, just about ANYONE can sing their tunes. It appeals to baser instincts and life experience. There is no way on God's green earth I could even hope to sing an Aria the likes of Beverly Sills, so I prefer country. Sorry, I can not agree with you.

Totally disagree. It's music where people actually talk about IMPOTANT topics. Such as girlfriends, living the farm life, building houses from dirt etc.
You can have your opinions, but if you don't like it just don't listen to it.

what little country music I ever listened to was just a lot of whining about everything under the sun.

Country music is the work of the devil(and possibly terrorists). It took four wedgies and 7 nugget-nugies to discover this. We need to prepare ourselves against the coming storm of yodeling, guitar-strumming southern drawls.

I find the death of one's dog very moving. And the ex-wife taking the pick-up truck? Just heartrending.
