I think that if you find books and go through them it will be a great help

i am thinking that you mean higher algebra in which the self study helps a lot

if you mean secondary algebra that is offered in a college i think
that you should stick with a book like What is Mathematics?(not the whole of it)

In my opinion, the best way to study algebra is to practice, practice, practice. Instead of working only the assigned problems, work them all. If you are having a lot of trouble then see a tutor.
