You don't need to know where he is to get a divorce, or even whether he is still alive. Go to the county courthouse and ask the clerk of the court for a do-it-yourself divorce packet. The instructions included with the paperwork will tell you how to serve your husband by publication. He will not respond in a timely manner, and you will be awarded a default divorce decree. It is really very simple. The people at the courthouse are almost always friendly and they will tell you what to do. That does not answer your question of whether he is still alive, however. For that you might try ZabaSearch.Com. Good luck sweetie. After all this time you probably ought to throw yourself a divorce party once the decree is signed!

First thing you would need a lawyer. Different states have different requirements. Most states have a way to file for a divorce with an absent partner by publishing in a newspaper of general circulation in the area of last know address, a Citation by Publication. It typically publishes once a week for 4 weeks. Then you take proof you published this to court. The lawyer can advise the exact steps you need to take.

Step 1: Go find a lawyer.
Step 2: Pay him/her a retainer.
Step 3: Pay him/her money to hire a private investigator to find the person.
Step 4: Pay to file for divorce, do the paperwork with the lawyer.
Step 5: Wait for court date.
Step 6: Go to court and see whether or not the judge grants the divorce.

Slow down alot of good advise, BUT he could have won the lottery, died and had insurance policies, Got a job as a CEO of a company. Depending on your age you'll get some of his social security. SO speak to an atty. b/4 doing anything. My boss charges $65.00 consultation fee. If you need to hire an Investigator email me and I'll find you a reputable one in your area.

Hope this helps

Its easy to file for divorce even if you don't have an idea where the other person lives. It is called something like absentee divorce or no contact divorce or something close to this. When you contact your attorney you can ask him/her about this, its usually pretty painless. Good luck.

Speak with your county attorney about filing for abandonment. If that option is available it would cost a LOT less money.

Best wishes.
