They have batteries that are non-replaceable. Take it to your GM dealer and he can order you a new one.

You say that you have had this car since 1999, did it come with a manual? If so, that's where I'd start first. Most keyless remotes have to go back to the manufacturer or lot where the car was bought when they no longer work. Some have batteries that can be replaced, but this can only be done by the manufacturer. Others have to be replaced as a whole unit and those can be obtained either by the manufacturer or if you know what the specific type, model, etc. is then you could try a site like Ebay. If you don't have a manual to give you the information that you need, then I suggest that you contact the manufacturer first just to make sure because you don't want to end up getting the wrong thing or not having a remote at all.

i had a similar problem a couple of years back. Only, mine was a Suzuki Zen. All i had to do was to replace the cell - a AAA type 1.5V cell...
All such units should come with some sort of power source, so I reckon yours does too. It wouldn't make sense for the manufacturer to sell the unit with the batteries non-replaceable...
Look around the case, you might find a release for the snap fit casing.

Somewhere on the side of the remote should be a recessed area. Use a coin to pry the two halves apart. There will be a flat battery inside.

You have to go to a dealer or a place that installs the key less systems to get them replaced...we had ours done for 99.00......as for the battery in the key part...that can be replaced. You just have to take it apart.......depending on the year, you can also order new key ring parts from the dealer.....

Yes, but that may not be the problem. Your door lock activators may be malfunctioning. I would check on replacing the batteries first though as that is definitely less expensive.

Are you talking about the remote? It likely has a watch battery in it.
