Coming from the Bay Area I highly doubt you will like it. It just seems like too much of a difference between the Bay Area and KS for you to enjoy it. Not only will the landscape be much duller and boring the people might get to you too. People in KS are really nice I hear but they definately don't have the same mentality and views as people from the Bay Area. If you enjoy living in the Bay Area and all the great things about it then I don't see how you would like KS, they just seem like two opposite worlds.

But that's just my opinion. I've never even been to KS and I'm from the Bay Area so that's what my take on it is. Also I'm sure people in the Bay Area are giving you crap about it b/c people from there and CA in general tend to have slightly enlarged ego's and look down upon the midwest. Most people from KS seem to love it so maybe you'll adapt, it all depends on you and what you like. If you're conservative and like small towns and a slow paced lifestlye then KS might be a great fit. I just assumed you weren't since most people from the bay area are not like that.

I've read that Overland Park, Kansas ( a suburb of Kansas City) is ranked one of the nicest towns to raise a family in the U.S

It probably depends where you live. Near a bigger city like Kansas City/ Overland Park there's probably a lot more to do, but if you're out on the prairie, unless you're an avid outdoors type, you might get kind of bored. I don't know.

I hear its flat, but pretty country. When I think of Kansas, I think of line from America.. "amber waves of grain"...

That depends on how dull and boring and ugly you've been led to believe it is.
It also depends on where you are going. Kansas is big, unlike those eastern "states", which are really nothing more than counties with senators.
And finally, it depends on what you think is dull, boring, and ugly. If you find spending three hours a day waiting in traffic on I-95 exciting, well, you probably won't like Kansas.

Unless your in Kansas City, it is dull, boring and flat. But KC does have night life and clubs and excellent BBQ. And jazz and blues.

Kansas is all about shine. My friend brought some back while visiting his family, other than that, he said that there was not really anything to do...... come on, its the Bluegrass state.
