OK, let’s take this imaginary situation. Some Liberals are calling Bush a dictator, so what if he actually tried to become one?
What if he took total control of the military, got governors and local politicians on his side (not many people turn down power), and got them to use local police forces to disarm the civilians. And, the “evil Republicans” who still support Bush start to keep the “protesters” in line. Bush now has a force of shock troops in every major city.
He would start making threats to other countries, trying to intimidate them for reward. We would threaten to invade MORE countries in the Middle East for oil. We would start bragging more and more about how we could destroy anyone who stood in our way.
Don’t like it? Too bad. If you speak out against the new Monarchy, Bush will have you silenced. There is no way for us to fight back.
Now, let’s say France has mercy on us. They get help from other countries, and invade our country through Canada. They take control of the major cities, and take Bush and his cronies out of power. They put Bush in front of a world court, where he is found guilty of war crimes and put to death.
Would you be happy with France, or would you be upset at them for invading our country? You would probably feel pretty grateful, right? Well how do you think the people in Iraq feel?

Do you think they are upset at us for invading their country, or grateful for removing a murderous dictator?

unfortunately the people of Iraq don't rationalize like we do... we are culturally very different.. oh I'm sure at first they were grateful.. but ask them today what their opinion of the US invasion is and I doubt you hear much gratitude. On another point.. imagine how hard we would work to rebuild, and how we would all work together.. black, white, yellow, red.. all of us... to rebuild this nation.. have you seen any of that in Iraq?

I believe that the people of those Countries, are grateful for President George W. Bush. (Liberals hate to see his full name in print). But it's the attacks from the Media, and the like. That gets the enemy emboldened. And gets Americans to believe the opposite.

That might be the liberal defense. I am not a liberal and I will state my defense of executive privilege: EVERY presidential administration since Reagan has used this unbelievable argument. Do I like it? I don't but I think any senate or representative who defended a president in the past for invoking that argument shoukd accept this argument for any president they now oppose. Every senator who has fared through a president of their own party defends this.

This isn't going to happen.
Too many good republicans would march on Washington with their well armed supporters (including National Guard forces) and take his sorry butt down. No one I know in the republican party around here would put up with that kind of absolute power grab.
Once someone has seized dictatorial powers, they rarely let go until they die.

I think I would hate France because they would've destroyed the infrastructure of my country and the Reps and Dems would fall into a never ending civil war because you know how much we hate each other. France would install a lame government, worse than anything that is led by either Reps or Dems. There would be constant anxiety in the streets due to terrorist bombings to persuade the French that their takeover although welcomed to remove a dictator is actually making life even worse. So what is the point of your analogy??!?

Liberals would just roll over and swear they always loved Bush. But if invaded, they would claim they always loved France.

Liberals would just complain about that, like they complain against everything else. Then, they would try to organize a rebellion group so they can feel heroic, since rebellion is considered heroic in a lot of hollywood movies. The most recent: V for Vendetta.

I lost track of your question.
What would I do? I don't think there's a need to answer that question, since it would be impossible for him to actually attain the title he desires to have.
The American people are strong, and our government is well-established and functioning. Bush would never be able to become a dictator.

The first part of your question is unanswerable for me personally. But for your additional details question:
I think many were grateful at first, but when we started overstaying our welcome, building an Embassy larger than their Capital Building and giving some of Saddam's former palaces to US Corporations as their headquarters in Iraq.....I think they started to think we weren't there for their freedom anymore......
What do you think?
