I had been stuck in a 2 year retail job, that I took as a spacer, now I seem to be branded at that. For two years it broke me, and I'm single and very frugal. My home is now teetering in the bad market, and I'm a little old for roomies. So just what is coming up besides my bad credit that now exists?

They usually check for any criminal background and credit history; if you have bad credit, it could legally keep you from getting any job where you would likely handle money (such as bank, accounting, or medical field or any other field where you would have access to personal account numbers or access to money) as you are a perceived liability and highly likely to be tempted to steal.

They check your criminal record, and often times driving record, tickets and such. If you've been in any trouble with the courts, they'll usually find it.
