Ignorance was bliss for the caveman. They didn't understand much about life over meeting their daily needs. There is so much more to life than hunting a Mammoth.

This entirely depends on what you mean by "understand life".

If you mean "understand what makes us and other organisms function and stay alive", obviously we understand this vastly better now.

If you mean "understand the range of possibilities that human life can involve", obviously today wins hands down.

If you mean "understand how easily life can be snuffed out" the cave people (I am including women here which for some reason you don't) understood that better than most people living in the relatively well-off countries of the world, and probably much the same as those living in places where they are right up against things, whether because of environmental conditions or war etc.

If you mean "felt more satisfied with life as it was for them", prehistoric peoples might have felt more satisfied (we just can't know) although this would only be because there was no possibility of alternatives.

I could go on, but I won't.

We certainly can't have a philosophical discussion unless the meanings of words with multiple possibilities are clearly defined.

Yeah, I wanna be a caveman. I hate the 21st century. I hated the 20th century and if I live long enough I'll hate the 22nd.

Of course, yes, because they faced greater and more proximate dangers to life and that too, more often. It is only the real fear of loss of life that makes us understand life well enough!!

No, but he did save hundreds of dollars by switching to GEICO. So easy a cave man can do it.
