Now this is something I know about. Try it on yourself.

Look upwards to the right. You're thinking about this, right?

Look upwards to the left. Now you're thinking about the whole meaning of the exercise. Contemplating. Connecting all of your thoughts.

Look straight ahead, without focusing..Now you're really thinking. In a zone, if you will, of total thought.

Now, here's the fun part. After looking straight ahead for a moment, look down to the left. What do you think? Probably that you have it figured. A little nod of your head will confirm it.

Looking down to the right you're thinking, maybe, well, maybe you have it figured out. But not really sure. Your head will probably move a little back and forth.

Watching someone else's eyes when you ask a question can tell you many things. If they look up and to the right before they answer they are simply accessing known information. Facts. Things that they know.

If they look up to the left they are putting a number of known thoughts together in a new way. Creative thought. Perhaps thinking of a new way to respond.

Looking down to the left means they have it figured out and are tryng to think of the proper way to answer your question. To put it into words. Honestly.

If they look down to the right, then they are thinking of a way to answer your question but with a spin, a lie, to their benifit. It takes a bit longer for that process to work. So they will look longer to the lower right than the lower left.

These are generalizations. Not always true. But for the most part all humans act the same way.

Interesting isn't it?

yes to the left and down, I look that way to management when I tell the truth, I look them straight in the eye when I lie to them, it's just a game I play, they are schooled in all that stuff just like shrinks, evaluators & social workers

Another myth, but since no one seemed to give a rat's a$s about my response to your question about the G.W. Bush "quote," I'm not going to parse this one.

You forgot about the up and down part. If they are embarrassed of what they are saying they look down, if they are proud of themselves for what they are saying, they look up.
